Getting our first outdoor seads in the ground today. Felt like a great achievement and more important than ever right now to be working towards a bit of self reliance. #selfisolation #cornwall #coronadiaries #vegpatch

With the latest government announcements, I would like to confirm we are currently closed and will continue to be closed for surf lessons over the Easter period. However great Cornwall and surfing is neither should be considered essential travel. I myself am in isolation because my son is in the most vulnerable category for coronavirus and this is expected to last 12 weeks. Good news is Liz is back from Australia next week so if government restrictions and advice change coming into May we can hopefully get back to what we love doing.

No mayday this year. I hope everyone gets the message to stay home, reduce social contact. The more we do now the sooner we can get back to normal. Don’t put the NHS at risk, don’t put people’s lives at risk. There are a lot of vulnerable people out there, we all have friends and family who come into that category.

Please remember Cornwall has only 1 proper hospital and I think 4 or 5 icu beds. We will probably get off least affected but with an older population and very limited resources it probably won’t take more than a handful of critical cases for the system to collapse. Please play it safe

So this happened today. Some of you know Sonny has #cysticfibrosis and while this announcement hasn’t come out the the blue, it is going to be deaply challenging, Apart from keeping a 4 year old home for 12+ weeks and having to self isolate myself as well as current and future travel recommendations leaves me pretty unsure of how to move ahead with surf lessons. But I guess I’m going to have a lot of time at home to think about it. This is early days and the only constant is change so we’ll see…
